The skin is the largest organ on the body and the most responsible. It protects us and rids the body of toxins and other wastes. Your skin also absorbs everything, the good and the bad, so what you put on your body is extremely vital to your health. Many ingredients in everyday skincare products can have harmful side effect and each year alone in the U.S., there are approximately 40,000 cosmetic related injuries which require medical treatment. “Wait, did you just say putting something sold in a store on my skin could cause me to go to my doctor?” YES! Many more complications from indiscriminate use of cheap, allergenic and downright toxic ingredients in cosmetic products go unrecorded. To understand better, let’s examine the ingredients found in a typical lotion and the ingredients found in Amber Blue’s Sunflower Lotion:
Mmmmmmm, the lovely smell of Sweet Pea lotion covering your skin, clogging your pores, and entering your bloodstream. Below is a bottle of lotion more than common in any beauty aisle. We’re just confused on why it isn’t sold at a gas station, by your local exterminator or tobacco store (see why we think it should be below)…
Gross right? You probably weren’t able to say half of them! That’s a rule of thumb in the skincare world; if you can’t say the ingredients, it’s not safe to eat the ingredient, than you should NOT put the ingredient on your skin! If you think this made you second guess your skincare collection, just wait until we feed you more knowledge through our blog (like how your deodorant is full of anti-freeze and aluminum…we’ll save more for future posts!).
On the other hand, we have Amber Blue Sunflower lotion. The ingredients found in this product have been selected for their healing properties. The essential oils not only have an aromathereputic benefits but will leave a natural and subtle scent on your body. Notice how you are also able to read, pronounce, and understand every single one of our ingredients. Our ingredients are healing agents, aromathereputic, anti-aging and moisturizing.
Let us know what you think of all of this and take part in our poll question related to this post! Then, run to your medicine cabinet and check out the labels on your lotions and skincare products. You may want to bring a trash bag with you on your way …a big one.
